Paris, France - Alexandre Vauthier created extremely sophisticated looks of uncommonly short lengths for his new collection for Spring/Summer 2010. The jersey garments are perfectly sculpted to the body and are dynamite to watch as they come down the runway. To unify the collection, the designer has given them both logic and gravity defying sculpted shoulders.

Though the cuts are well done, at times one gets the impression that some of the models were too skinny. This resulted in a fit that was less than perfect. The jumpsuit in forest green seemed a bit out of place for a Spring/Summer 2010 collection but nonetheless, it is eye-catching. The jewelry is made of dramatically large stones. The pieces are extremely heavy when held in the hands, but they are attractive.

He has created draped and hooded swimwear that may be worn small wrap skirts. His blue gown in jersey is perhaps the most sensual piece in good taste from the collection. It is perhaps the too the best piece from the collection.

Though I am one to say that out red is for bad girls, Vauthier’s ruby red sequined dress does give cause to reconsider this position.

This collection is again a testament to the vision and direction of the young couturier. The work is cohesive, exciting and visually interesting. And thanks to Vauthier’s consistency, his work rightfully attracts more and more media season after season which places him among the most watched names in fashion.
