Jean-Charles de Castelbajac’s career stretches over 40 years with his first creations being made from atypical materials at his mother’s suggestion. His transcending work with oversized clothing was the precursor to hip-hop wear. It has influenced scores of musicians from Led Zeppelin and Run DMC to Kanye West and Beth Ditto. Today his work includes successful women’s wear, menswear and skiwear lines. During this month’s London Fashion Week, the house of Castelbajac launched its new more youth oriented JC/DC lines for both men and women.
In the acceptance speech Castelbajac warmly thank Harper’s Bazaar and the people of Cyprus for their undying support and admiration for his brand and work. And audience members were thrilled to learn that the designer’s ancestry also has roots in Cyprus.
Harper’s Bazaar Cyprus is the co-organizer of the Cyprus Fashion Week. The magazine is published by the Dias Publishing Group.
