U-N-I-T-Y: Upbeat & Extraordinary for Spring 2010

Paris , France - Jean-Pierre Gassa’s new collection for Spring/Summer 2010 is an upbeat and extraordinary one defined by the careful attention given to detail, composition, cuts and styling. This season, the designer has decided to loosen up the silhouettes and to allow more freedom of movement for a body in motion.

Gassa has created beautiful square printed short pant suits, denim looks, and splendid work with his re-creation of the male silhouette through a system of buttons placement. We find lots of light tan sandals on the feet of the models with lots of straps. The addition of the multiple straps is proof of Gassa not being afraid of taking some well-calculated risks with the image that he has been constructing for men over the last several seasons. After all, men’s sandals have traditionally been very conservative. Here, the additional straps in the design of the sandals do not make them feminine, but instead more stylish.

Long shorts which look like short djellaba are worn in composed looks. The jeans are perhaps the best of the season as we see them baggy at the tops and more tapered at the bottom as one has seen in similar version this season in both Milan to Paris . And to all of this, we add the excellent choice of fabrics such as linen, linen blends and soft cottons to Gassa’s already impeccable, near reproach free cuts which account for this collection being considered as one of the top collections of the season.
