EMANUEL UNGARO INNOVATES FOR SPRING 2010

Paris , France – Innovation is as slow to come to menswear as Christmas is in the eyes of a child. However Franck Boclet, the artistic director at Emanuel Ungaro’s menswear division has done just that for his new collection for Spring/Summer 2010.
Shown at the Garage de Turenne before a packed house, the Ungaro collection has all of the refinement that one would expect from the house that is a champion of vivacious colours for men, bold cuts and ultra male sophistication. So it came as no surprise that in his blazers, Boclet decided to add wire piping to create a perfect rigidity in certain pieces.
“When I arrived in the ateliers with the wire piping, they asked me what it was for”, said he to Fashion Insider TV in a post-show interview. “When I said that it was for the collection, they looked at me like I was crazy. But you see how beautifully this make the pieces look.”
The designer also put in blazers that are hybrid of traditional blazers and coat tails. The penguin tails created by Boclet are button with one button on each side of the blazer. The two are merged together with a wire crossing for a new innovative look.
The collection also sees its share of casual pieces and silhouettes such as jeans for weekend wear. They bring to the collection a true sense of reality regarding the need of men in their daily lives and cater to their every need for luxury attire. After the show, the world N°1 selling club singer Chris Willis of “Love Is Gone”, “Just A Little More Love”, “Every Time We Touch” declared himself to be in love with everything he saw in the collection.
