Milan , Italy - Dean and Dan Caten at Dsquared acknowledged to Fashion Insider TV in a pre-show interview that they are tired of hearing about the world financial crisis and global. They feel that we should just get on with our lives and move forward. So to help us forget about it, they have suggested that that we dance and prance our way on to happier times.
The Caten brothers began their 1930s Zeigfeld Follies inspired presentation of their new Fall/Winter 2009/2010 Dsquared2 line with Italian dance stars who opened the fashion show with exciting and elegant moves. The twins play accompaniment on the piano while the sounds of 1930s big band sounds roared loudly.
The first silhouette to hit the runway consists of a denim tops with retractable faux collar worn with a brilliantly detailed vest in black. This faux collar is just one of the many details and hidden gadgets which pepper the collection. The formal suits have tails or “queue-de-pie” as the French say. These tails are a bit shorter than the habitual ones. They have also taken a hooded jersey running jacket from a track suit and reworked its back with these short formal tails in black.
They duo is also working hard to bring vests back to the forefront of means fashion. There is a hybrid of a shoulder blade revealing cashmere back and with its front being in an “oiled” baseball glove like leather. Among the other hybrids in the collection, we see them mixing street wear with formal wear. One of the fiercest ensemble features baggy grey trousers worn with a plaid t-shirt, sweater cardigan and a sickening blazer in brown crocodile’s skin. This is a must have.
