Paris, France In life presidents are elected, kings and queens are crowned but legends are born. And for the most privileged among us, we in fashion often times have the opportunity to live a page in the history books of living legends. And it with these thoughts in mind that the living legend Pierre Cardin staged a fashion show for about 200 journalists and guests in his famed Palais des Bulles in Nice France.
Known for his futuristic approach to fashion, Pierre Cardin reminded us all today that though absent from the runways of Paris, he is still a force with which to reckon.
Silhouettes composed of leather and black vinyl caressed the bodies of the models who wore them with assorted angular ponchos and large knit sweaters. The ladies wore spongy dresses with long collars which transform into cagoules. Cardins black and white mini-bubble coat dress is as modern as they come. But let us not forget that Cardin is the one who launched this futuristic view on fashion in his yesteryear. His T-shirt dresses in yellow or red, both trimmed in black patent leather, along with the black and white mini-dresses pack the punch of youth that many younger designers seek to infuse in their own collections.
In accessories, Cardin proposes eyewear for the ski sloaps or just for a night out on the town. In accessories, he also proposes lots of large, disk-shaped beret hats, and small boots in both leather and in rubber for more humid climates. Still considered today as fashions leading rock star in many parts of the world including China, Cardins business since is what has keep him ahead of his former competitors, who have since disappeared from the scene as they have either sold their houses or have been ejected from them. Cardin is still the only one from among them who remains in control of his house. ...
