Paris , France – The Spring/Summer 2008 haute couture season will begin on Monday, January 21 st at 10:30 with Anne-Valérie Hash’s show. The big highlights of the day include the haute couture presentations from Christophe Josse and Giorgio Armani Privé. Though showing on the off calendar, Zuhair Murad’s couture show is surely the must-see show of the day.
Chanel, Georges Chakra, Maurizio Galante, Eyméric François and Christian Lacroix are the top headliners for Day 2 of couture week. Christian Lacroix will be celebrating his 20 th anniversary at the top of his own haute couture house. His show will take place at the Georges Pompidou Center at 3:30pm on January 22nd.
Also showing on this day on the off calendar are Veronika Jeanvie, Gavin Rajah, Dilek Hanif, Dupre Santabarbara and Robert Abi Nader.
Those showing on Day 3 include the grand couturiers Franck Sorbier, Elie Saab, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Dominique Sirop and Valentino. The grand couturier Valentino will be taking his final bow from the world of fashion and haute couture with this new collection.
While invited members Carven, Nicolas Le Cauchois and Gérard Watelet will not be doing a show, the season does see the return of Guy Laroche to the catwalks. Showing on the off-calendar, the house will present its first luxury ready-to-wear collection signed by the designer Marcel Marongiu.
And Day 4 of the calendar sees many new names to the official couture calendar such as Alexis Mabille, Jean Paul Knott and the Spanish designer Josep Font. However, now that Stéphane Roland is comfortably installed in his own fashion house after amicably splitting with Jean Louis Scherrer where he served as the house's long-time artistic director, it would seem that nothing can stop him now from achieving his destiny.
