Paris , France – Day 1 of the Paris menswear fashion week will kick off on Thursday, January 17 th at 12:30 pm. To the South American designer, Gaspard Yurkievich, goes the honour of officially opening the menswear calendar with his men’s line which has become a staple in fashion week here. Also on day one, are powerhouses Jean-Paul Gaultier with his Gaultier² collection for men, Louis Vuitton and Yohji Yamamoto.
Day 2 action will be highlighted by shows from John Galliano, Kenzo, Rykiel Homme and Bruno Pieters. The day also sees the return of the promising Croatian designer, Damir Doma. Six months ago, he turned heads in Paris with the presentation of a Spring 2008 ( Damir Doma Spring/Summer 2008 ) collection infused sombre tones and creative volumes.
Day 3 in Paris is certain to be a tricky one for fatigued journalists who will have also made the trip to Italy for men’s show before arriving to Paris . The day starts with three extremely promising designers. Though not entirely known to the public, their names should nonetheless manage to bring out the crowds.
Jeroen van Tuyl, the talented Dutch designer who was recently nominated for Mercedes-Benz Dutch Fashion Awards starts the day with his 10:00am show. His show will be followed an hour later by the creative Japanese designer, Mihara Yasuhiro. Then, it’s onto Juun J. This Korean dazzled us all last season with a surprising and complex, yet seemingly effortlessly complete reworking of the trench coat for his Spring/Summer 2008 collection ( JUNN J. Spring/Summer 2008 ). Also showing on this day are Emanuel Ungaro, Hermès and Raf Simons. ...
