Paris , France – It’s that time of the year again when publications around the world release their year-end lists of “the best this” and “the worst that”. The editors at TheFashionInsider.com have gotten together to compose their own list of the most memorable moments which have or will change our industry in some way or another.
We have put together a list of fourteen such moments and events. And though this does not officially count, my personal favorite moment of the year came at Chanel’s October 5, 2007 presentation of it women’s ready-to-wear collection for Spring/Summer 2008. As I finished my interview with Karl Lagerfeld, he unexpectedly honored me with a rare compliment on my attire. But enough of that! The following are the editor’s picks for the year’s most memorable moments and events of the year.
FASHION YEAR IN REVIEW
1) Death of the American designer legend, Liz Claiborne and of the Italian couturier, Gianfranco Ferré;
2) Emanual Ungaro signs Esteban Cortazar as artistic director for the women’s line after separating from Peter Dundas;
3) Diana Ross, the legendary pop diva, R&B singer, Tony Award Winner, Golden Globe Award Winner, Oscar Best Actress Nominee and international style icon, receives Kennedy Center Honor Award for her lifetime contributions to arts;
4) Franck Bocler presents first men’s collection at Emanuel Ungaro;
5) Sophie Albou brings her Paul & Joe women’s collection to the runway;
6) The founding of two new Parisian couture houses by Stéphane Roland & Christophe Josse;
7) The 1972 film, Mahogany, starring Diana Ross and Billy Dee Williams is elected by the readers of TheFashionInsider.com as “Favorite Fashion Film of All-Time”;
