London, UK - The runways of the Spring Summer 07 Fashion weeks were overflowing with sparkling, shining styles. Metallic minis, molten-gold gowns, all with a touch of Space Odyssey, seemed to be ‘de rigeur’ in the collections at Elie Saab, Stella McCArtney Romain Kremer, and Lanvin.

At Givenchy and Balenciaga, we found collections full of chain mail…There was even something almost ‘Starwars’ about the floating, see-through plastic used by Versace.

This retro futurism is however proving difficult for the high street to copy. There are plenty of options available- metallic leggings, plastic jackets…but none of these make the cut when compared to the more museum pieces of the runway.

Until there is a solution, a better suggestion is to make do with accessorising with metallics. Shiny shoes, sharp and blunt hair cuts decorated metallic hair pieces and bands, or one of the many oversized metallic bags, will have to help you sparkle through the summer.
